The PV200D Solar Panel neatly folds into a rough square when not in use, with a built in carrying handle at the top of unit. The panel’s angles can be adjusted using the included legs for a range between 45° ± 10°.

Directly below the handle you’ll find a convenient & spacious pouch that holds the solar charging cord with room to add your own cords. Printed inside of this pouch are the technical specifications listed below:

Solar Cell: Mono

Solar Cell Lamination: ETFE (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene)

Cell Efficiency: Up to 23.4%

Voltage at Max Power (Vmp): 20.4V

Current at Max Power (Imp): 9.7A

Open Circuit Voltage: 24.6V

Short Circuit Current: 10.8A

Operating Temperature: -10°C - 65°C

Above you can see my phone as I used the PV200D solar panels to recharge the AC180T which was supplying power to my portable fridge. Even though it was a cloudy day, I was averaging an impressive 112W - 150W from the panels! This was enough power to simultaneously charge the AC180T and power the fridge.

Tip for the Readers:

Remember that when buying solar panels, you should always choose panels with the same specifications. Mismatched panels can lead to inefficiencies in energy production, as the system will only perform as well as the weakest panel. This can result in lower overall power output and potential strain on the power station or battery, ultimately reducing the effectiveness and longevity of your setup.

AC180T Swappable B70 Modular Battery

One of the main reasons that I chose the AC180T over the AC180 was the included B70 modular batteries. Even though these LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries are rated for over 3,000 cycles to 80%, they will eventually need to be replaced. Other brands on the market, like Anker and Jackery, mainly produce units with non-replaceable batteries, meaning your power station becomes less useful once the battery reaches the end of its life.

As an added bonus, these batteries have also been designed to power the upcoming Bluetti MultiCooler Portable Fridge (which I’m looking forward to try!).

Key Features and Specifications

The main difference between the AC180 and AC180T is that the latter has 1,433Wh versus 1,152Wh thanks to the removable modular B70 Batteries. The power station is equipped with a 1,800W inverter, capable of delivering 2,700W in surge power (Bluetti calls this Power Lifting Mode). This means it can handle a variety of devices, from cameras and laptops to more demanding appliances like fridges, small AC units, power tools and more.

These options make it versatile, catering to a wide range of power needs.

Performance and Usability

The BLUETTI AC180T excels in both performance and ease of use. During testing, I found that it could effortlessly power my entire photography setup, including lights, cameras, laptop, and Igloo 80DZ Fridge, with plenty of juice left over for charging smaller devices. The AC outlets are particularly useful for running more power-hungry equipment, while the USB-C port quickly charges my iPhone and other USB-C devices.

One of the most remarkable aspects is its recharging efficiency. It supports rapid charging, taking just 70 minutes to fully charge when plugged into a wall outlet and using max charging mode. Additionally, its compatibility with solar panels is a game-changer for those who spend a lot of time off-grid.

Practical Applications: Who Is It For?

You may be asking yourself, “What can I really use this for?”.

I have created a list below to highlight some unique ways you can use the BLUETTI AC180T in your everyday life:

  • For Photographers and Videographers: Whether you're shooting in a remote location or need a reliable power source on set, the AC180T has the capacity and output to keep your gear running smoothly.

  • For Outdoor Enthusiasts: Campers, RVers, and overlanders will appreciate the portability and power of the AC180T, ensuring that they can enjoy modern conveniences such as fridges, heaters, coffee makers, and more all while exploring off-grid locations.

  • For Homeowners: In case of power outages, the AC180T serves as a reliable backup power source, keeping essential devices like refrigerators, lights, and communication devices operational.

  • For Emergency Preparedness: The AC180T is an excellent addition to any emergency kit, providing peace of mind that you’ll have access to power when you need it most.

  • For IT Professionals & Sensitive Equipment: The AC180T has a built in UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) with a transfer time of only 20ms. This allows users to plug in sensitive equipment (like computers or servers) and have the power station automatically supply power if it detects an outage.

Essential Power for Overlanding and All-Night Photography

The BLUETTI AC180T is a game-changer for overlanders and mobile photographers who need reliable power in remote locations. When you're out overlanding, having a dependable power source becomes crucial if you are running things such as fridges, heaters, or other important accessories.

For photographers like myself, this is particularly valuable when it comes to extended shoots. It allows me to not have to worry about running out of battery power when doing long-exposure shots of the night sky or setting up time-lapse photography that runs all night. On top of this, it has plenty of power to support my laptop (and much more) so I can edit right then and there.

My Personal Setup with the AC180T

While I’m still fine-tuning my setup, I’ve found the BLUETTI AC180T to be incredibly versatile for my off grid needs. To better illustrate my setup, I’ve included a chart below.

My truck has two AC 120V outlets in the bed, which I use to charge the AC180T while driving. Thanks to its dual charging capability, I have the unit primarily charging through the truck’s AC outlet while on the move. When the ignition is turned off, the AC180T automatically switches over to DC power, ensuring continuous operation without any manual intervention.

My eventual goal is to install thin solar panels on the roof of my vehicle so that the AC180T can continue charging even when the truck is parked.

I’ve set up my Igloo 80DZ fridge to take full advantage of this setup. The fridge is plugged into the secondary AC outlet in the truck bed while also being connected to the AC180T via a 12V DC port. This configuration allows the fridge to run on the truck’s AC power while driving, conserving the AC180T’s battery. Once the vehicle is off, the fridge seamlessly switches to the 12V DC power from the AC180T, which I plan to charge via the solar panels once installed. This setup ensures that my fridge—and any other essential devices—remain powered, as long as there’s sun available!

The BLUETTI App: A Seamless Power Management Experience

While not necessary to operate the unit, which is a good thing, the BLUETTI app, available for both iOS and Android, enhances the functionality of the AC180T by offering real-time monitoring and remote control. The app comes with features like customizable power settings, firmware updates, and alerts, to ensure you’re always in control, no matter where you are.

In my real world use experience: the AC180T lives in the bed of my truck, and it was extremely convenient to be able to check the output and charging status from inside the cab.

You can easily switch between silent, standard, and turbo charging modes, allowing you to customize performance based on your needs or preferred noise levels.

Conclusion: Is the BLUETTI AC180T Worth It?

The BLUETTI AC180T Portable Power Station is a highly versatile, efficient, and reliable power source that caters to a wide range of needs. Whether you’re a professional, an adventurer, or someone who simply wants to be prepared, the AC180T offers the power and portability that you need. With its robust build, impressive capacity, and ease of use, it’s an investment that’s sure to pay off in both the short and long term.

If you’re in the market for a portable power solution, the BLUETTI AC180T should be at the top of your list. Its combination of power, portability, and versatility makes it a standout product in a crowded market.
